I received this error installing Office Pro 2003, and
after deleting, Office XP, rebooting, I still received
this error. I even tried removing Norton. Nothing worked.
I was also unable to reinstall Office XP, getting the
same error message that a copy was already running. I
finally got fed up and called Microsoft on my dime, and
after about 20 minutes got a tech who asked me to try
once more. I simply put the CD back in, ran set up, and
it worked. I have no explanation why, as I did not reboot
again before retrying.
