I have Windows XP (not networked) and installed Office
XP, downloaded updates--all seemed to work fine. Now,
when opening Word, I get "Error 1706. Setup cannot find
the required files. Check your connection to the network
or CD-ROM drive...." I followed instructions in article
297834 (for using a CD-ROM) & removed/reinstalled Office,
but it hasn't helped. I only get this message with Word,
and once I click the "okay" button the message goes away
and Word works fine. How can I resolve this error
message so it doesn't come up anymore? Appreciate any
help.
