Error 1919, Error configuring ODBC data source...blah, blah, blah

Greetings...

I'm receiving the following error message:

"Error 1919, Error configuring ODBC data source: MS Access Database, ODBC
error 6: Component not found in the registry. Verify that the file MS Access
Database exists and that you can access it."

When I tried to reinstall my Office XP 2002 I actually received the above
message 5 times (MS Access Database, Excel Files, Visual FoxPro DB, Visual
FoxPro Tables and dBASE Files)...but all 5 messages had the same Error 1919
message.

Precipitating factors: I was having problems w/ my Access program...it was
not responding appropriately...So I tried to (1st) repair it using my
original Office XP disks and when that didn't work I (2nd) removed Office XP
from my computer and attempted to reinstall it...that is when I received the
above message (or shoudl I say the above 5 messages....)

Any thoughts or direction would be greatly appreciated...

V/R,

Steve

Greetings "Garfield-n-Odie,"

Thanks for your reply...after looking through the link referred to in your
reply...I have two problems:

1) It seems like backing up my current registry is a good thing but I'm
unable to do so....because I don't have that tool listed under my
All_Programs/Accessories/SystemTools/......no backup tool listed (Windows XP
Home edition).

2) I do not have the Windows XP disk...it came preinstalled on my system
(and my system is several years old).

Is my only option to back up my data and attempt to make the suggested
changes to my registry...and hope for the best (will I be able to complete
the process w/o the Windows CD)? or Am I SOL?

thanks....
