Error 4362

Since a few days one of my multiple identities in Entourage is acting
strange. The other identities are unaffected so far.
It started in the deleted items folder, where only some of the
contained items were visible, the rest covered behind a gray-striped
pattern. When trying to empty the folder, I receive an Error # 4362
message and the folder refuses to empty. The phenomenon has spread to
the Inbox, where the same gray pattern is covering read and unread
messages and when clicking the gray spots, I receive the same Error #
4362. Can anybody advise what - if anything - I can do to resolve the
problem?

Any assistance is much appreciated!

You need to rebuild your database. If you're already in that identity, quit
Entourage and relaunch holding down Option (alt) key. If you're in another,
go to Switch Identities, choose the identity, and click Switch while holding
down Option (alt) key.

If you've got Entourage X (or 2001), select Advanced in the window that
comes up. If you've got Entourage 2004 choose Rebuild in the window that
comes up. (Next time, tell us which version you have.)

PLEASE always state which version of Microsoft Office you are using -
**2004**, X or 2001. It's often impossible to answer your questions
otherwise.

Thanks for your advise and sorry about the missing information
regarding version. It is version X (Swedish). Unfortunately, your
advise is not fixing the problem, as Entourage quits when the rebuild
dialog box appears. Is there any way to work around this problem?

Get the Remove Office utility from the Office CD. Run it to remove Office v.
X. (This won't touch any of your data, including Entourage databases and
identities.) EMPTY THE TRASH. Then reinstall Office v. X and apply Office
10.1.6 Updater from MacTopia website.

If you still have problems after that, first rebuild your database if you
can. If you still can't, it must be a font problem - quite possibly a font
in the class Fonts folder in /System Folder. Check the Entourage FAQ site
below and go to Fonts and Crashing pages.
