Hi-
I migrated my PST and PAB files from Outlook 2000 to
Outlook 2002 (XP).
Now when I receive an e-mail with an attachment, the first
time (and only the first time during that Outlook session)
I preview that e-mail I get a dialog box titled 'Personal'
folders' with the text 'This information service has not
been configured'. I click okay. Then I get a dialog box
with the text 'Properties for this service must be defined
prior to use'. I click okay.
Then I get a file open dialog box looking for a PST file.
I have used both my own PST and the default PST but it
does not solve the problem.
If I cancel the file open box, it cycles through the
messages approximately 6 to 8 times before I can view the
e-mail and open the attachment.
It has occurred with PDF attachments, DOC attachments and
HTML attachments.
After I go through this for the first time I no longer
have the problem unless I close Outllok and restart it.
My PST and PAB are on a directly attached external
harddrive that I can take from location to location.
I do not use exchange server.
