"An extension failed to initialize. Can't open file: extend.dat. The file may

another program. Right-click the folder that contains the file, and then
click Properties to check your permissions for the folder."

I guess Microsoft hasn't come up with a solution for this one. And of
course, it's a problem I am experiencing. Any ideas out there anyone on how
to fix this problem?

This is what Microsoft has to say so far about this problem:

"CAUSE
This problem can occur because Outlook does not recognize that you have an
e-mail account if you cancel the Outlook Setup Wizard and then configure an
e-mail account.

RESOLUTION
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a known issue. At this time, there is not
an available resolution or workaround for this problem.

STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products
that are listed at the beginning of this article."

That was as of 12/10/2004. Any help would be greatly appreciated. :)

Chris,

Thanx for the reply. I deleted the file... but I'm still getting the same
message. Do I need to delete the file, then reinstall? reboot? what? I
tried just deleting it... then going right into Outlook... didn't work, got
the same message... what now?
