Error message when starting or trying to open Word documents

When I start MS Word 2000 I get the following error
message.

This program has performed an illegal operation and will
be shut down .
If the problem persists , contact the program vendor .

If I click details :
WinWord caused an invalid page fault in module VBE6.DLL at
0167:6504eafl .

I have uninstalled & reinstalled OEM disc of OFFICE 2000
multiple times , at least now WORD is in the programs list
again but it still cames up with the above error if I try
to access any Word documents , or attempt to start Word .

Any Ideas .

Did you try to install the Office Service Packs?
