error message

One of my users is getting three errors messages when they use word. The
first error is message is a bunch of Chinese charters with last part of the
network file at the end of it. The other message is something about changes
made to Normal.dot template. the last error message is "Changes have been
made that affect the global template, Normal. Do you want to save those
changes?" I found a website (see below) and tried all the suggestions nothing
worked. I also tried uninstalling and reinstalling office which did not work.
The user has roaming profiles when I had the user log into another computer
she got the same problem.

Any suggestions?

Hi Mark,

Thank you for your post.

This issue normally occurs due to conflicts between Word and other running tasks. To confirm this, you can try the following two
steps.

1. Start Word at command line by "winword /s"

2. Start Word in Windows Safe Mode.

If this issue does not appear in step 1, certain items loaded at Word startup should be the cause.
If this issue does not appear in step 2, certain items loaded at Windows startup should be the cause.

Particularlly, the corruption in Normal.dot may also cause such issues, you can search within the user's roaming profile for the file
"normal.dot". After finding it, rename it to "normal.old" and then start Word to automatically generate a new one.

I hope the information helps.

Regards,
Jason Lu
