Error opening previous versions

Just upgraded to Office 2003. When I try to open some
powerpoints from previous versions, I get the error
message: Powerpoint can't read <filename>.ppt.

Please help!

Have you installed the critical updates? You might think it would work
out of the box, but chances are good that the updates will fix your
problem.
