error starting office 2003

D

Dan

tried all of the above.. same error
after the 2nd install even before outlook opened it gave
the error prompt "would I like to start in safe mode"

any more suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Wondering how I can find out if old address files etc are
corrupted. And how I can turn off the "configuring outlook-
migrating account settings box"? Also where are the old
files located?
Also be advised that under start/program files/microsoft
office - there is microsoft office outlook 2003 and on the
next line is microsoft outlook 2003 (2) ?? I have tried
clicking on both (they were there before and after the 2nd
install also) Also will not start in safe mode either.
THanks again? I am baffled...

So, you removed the Windows Installer entries for Outlook 2003, re-installed
it and still had a problem? Hm.

Okay...because of the power failure etc, it seems your installation is
pretty messed up. Try to remove the Windows Installer data for Office 2003
again. Also remove any Windows Installer data for Office 2000, if there is
any. Then (as you suggest) re-install Office 2000. Try to access your
Outlook 2000 after that. If it works, then try the upgrade again.

You should have a file called outlook.pst which contains your contacts,
mail, etc. You could back up this file before doing any of the above. It
is possible that it is corrupted in some way, but you may be able to get
items out of it once you get Office 2003 installed successfully.

removed installer entries for 2003 then installed 2000
last night. Was prompted on first time opening of 2000
outlook if I wanted to have my contacts etc merged. After
checking the box yes, I had the same problem as 2003
except 2000 outlook would not open at all, it would just
hang and then close after a few minute no error. Removed
installer entries for 0utlook 2000 and re-installed but
cannot get the prompt and window before opening 1st time
of the merging of existing contacts etc. also did repair
of 2000 outlook but just hangs and then closes.

Trying to figure out how to re-install 2000 (or 2003)
without transfering or updating the new software of my
original contacts emails settings etc etc.??
