Error! Unable to check for updates on this computer

I'm not able to update my Office XP SBE. I am also having
problems with Microsoft Word. When I attempt to open
Word, Windows Installer opens and attempts to access my A:
drive. When I attempt to save a document within Word, I
get this message. Microsoft Word can not load speech
regonition files. An error occurred.... Would you like to
repair this feature now? When I select YES, I get a
Windows Installer Error 1635 message. I have no idea what
is occurring and any feeback would be most appreciated.

hello,

Based on my experience, this issue is most likely caused by some of the
registry
keys for Office XP being corrupted or missing. To resolve the issue, we
need to
manually delete all the registry keys for Office XP. I understand the whole
process
can be time consuming but they are crucial for us to effectively resolve
this
situation. Please work with me by trying the troubleshooting steps and we
will
resolve this problem together. Your time and efforts are greatly
appreciated. To do
this, follow the steps below:

1. Quit all running programs.

2. Click Start menu-> Run, type "regedit" (without the quotation marks) in
the Open
box and press Enter.

3. Delete the following registry keys if they exist:

Note: 904¡ mean the registry keys begin with 904, for example:
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Installer\Products\9040820900063D11C8EF00054038389C
XXX means 3 digitals

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Installer\Products\904¡

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Installer\Features\904...
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Installer\Products\904...

4. Quit Registry Editor.

5. Delete the "Microsoft Office" folder located in the C:\Program Files.
