Error when tryin to insert a picture from file

Hi All,

could someone please shed some light on this? I have an XP pro SP2 PC
with Office 2003 with SP1. When I am designing a brochure in publisher
and trying to insert a picture from file I get an error and publisher
exits, losing any changes, the error message is that publisher has
caused an error and "we are very sorry for the inconvenience, etc. etc."
tell Microsoft about this problem, doesn't do absolutely anything (good
help that is), can't find anything on the Microsoft site either.

Some help would be appreciated, by the way I have an AMD Athlon 2400
with 512MB RAM, 2000MB of Swap file, 40GB hard disk, with plenty of free
space on it. Have no spyware nor viruses, hard disk is defragged
regularly and the H/D chkdsked as well, no problems there.

Thanks in advance and regards

GB

Hi Mary,

thanks for the reply, it makes reference to some memory address,
unfortunately I don't have the PC here with me, but what you said about
the VGA driver makes sense, this PC has an on-board VGA card, maybe that
is the culprit????

Microsoft gets thousands of these reports every day - it takes time to sort
through them, to find the most common ones (which will always get priority),
and then to investigate each crash dump and find out what is causing the
error. Even then, to fix the problem they have to create a program update
and release that, as the reporting is anonymous and they can't get back to
you directly.
So basically, it takes time - you won't see the benefits of submitting error
reports immediately.

I would agree with Mary about checking your video drivers - if you have an
onboard card, you'll want to look to the manufacturer of your motherboard as
a starting point for drivers.
