error with outllook on shut down or restart

Help! any time that i have used outlook, and i am ready
to shut down the computer, even if outlook has been
closed.. and there are no other open microsoft programs..
outlook.exe reports "not responding" and I have to wait
to end task to restart...... otherwise everything works
fine... what can i do to fix the error?
