Any ideas on how to handle this problem? I have more than
enough memory (especially to display the Save dialog box)
and nothing else is running when this problem occurs. I
am allowed to save the file with a .tmp extension, but not
with a .prj extension.

There is not enough memory to display the Save dialog
box. You can still save your project file
as "C:\TEMP\PRJ2.tmp", however.
