If you are using Project Server 2007, this is a known bug that is fixed by
applying Service Pack 1 (SP1) to both Project Server 2007 and Project
Professional 2007. Hope this helps

PWA task updates are not updating the project plan
The Project Manager accepts the % task complete changes from users. These
updates are not being reflected on the project plan in project. I have
checked that the "Updating task status updates resource status" check box is
checked. This makes no difference. Other user on this forum are having the
same issues.
Please can someone help? How can I get this to work

If I look at the REsource View or Adjust actuals view, the time is identical
to the time entered in the Resource's Timesheet. If I look in the project's
Task Usage view, these updates are not visible at all

I viewed the tasks that were listed in the Task Update e-mail received by
the project manager and saw that all but three tasks included in that update
were also updated in the project. So I'm not sure why three of them randomly
didn't update..

I just verified that the Actual Work Protected is the same as Actual Work
was updated and the task in the Project

For the purposes of making sure the project schedule is up to date, could we
have the Project Manager change ACtual Work to 0. Republish and Overwrite
Actuals, and then have the resource re-enter the work? Perhaps it will
"take" then

What do you think

I'll give that a try.
I'll give that a try. I'm still puzzled why that would happen in the first
place. But the PM needs to move forward so I hope that works.

Thank you for your help and insight!!

For 2003:
I have often helped clients figure their way through this and we
usually determine that the update was applied, but then over written

time you see in Adjust Actuals in PWA match the Actual Work Protected
in the project plan? Does the time in Adjust Actuals match what the
resource sees in their My Tasks view?

Make sure to check Actual Work versus Actual Work Protected as well.
They can be different.

One reason that updates may not make it back is that the task may have
been deleted and a new task with the same name added. It can take some
time of database digging to determine likely causes.

That's very likely to fix the problem. It's not much different than
the PM entering the time straight into the project plan (using a time-
phased view) and overwriting actuals. Half dozen on one; six the
other.

Has anyone found a fix that is not manual?
