Excel 2000 opens & freezes minimized

When I try to open Excel, it opens minimized and freezes; I cannot maximize
it or close it.

I repaired, uninstalled and reinstalled Office. It did not work. I
downloaded and installed MS Office SP-3, but did not help either.

I have Office 2000 Professional & Windows XP home edition. All the other
programs in my Office 2000 Professional work well. The problem is with Excel.
