Excel 97 Importing to Access 97

I am having an issue, more of a problem with importing an excel 97 worksheet into Access 97. Previously, it worked fine, now, since I've added 23 more columns to the range I am getting a data conversion error message. Telling me that 0 records were imported.

I do not understand this error message since all the fields in the target table are set to 30 char text, and the top of the named range A5 contains, with few exceptions a couple of merged cells containing text are all blank. So access should see them as text, correct?

Can someone tell me what's happening here and provide possible solutions?
