Excel low memory

Excel 2004 (Office 2004) on a new core duo iMac with 2 gig of RAM, OS
10.4.10
reports that is low on memory and that a file must be closed and reopened.
This happens quite frequently.

anyone know a fix?

thanks

Hi Jim -

With 2 Gigs, RAM certainly _shouldn't_ be the issue as long as you don't
have other a bunch of other processes running at the same time. You might
check using Activity Monitor. Keep in mind that Office 2004 isn't native on
the Intels, so it's accessing the Rosetta emulator which takes more RAM than
comparable universal apps would.

Also, "memory" errors don't necessarily refer to RAM. When it happens again
note the specific wording of the message & perhaps someone will be able to
offer possible remedies.

In the meantime, make sure Office is fully updated & run Disk Utility -
Repair Disk Permissions... May not help, but it can't hurt:)

Hi Bob,
Thanks for the response
Here is the error:

Cannot reoprn the saved document due to low memory.
Please close the document.

I will make sure updates are run tomorrow (I think it is at 11.3.7 right
now) and will let you know if that seems to do anything
