Excel macro

When I select record a new macro I receive an error
message "Unable to record". When I open a workbook with
macros enabled I have no problems recording a new macro.

Hi Frank,

Thanks for the speedy response. Can you enlighten me on
enabling macros, I am aware that you can disable or enable
when you open a worksheet containing a macro when
the 'Options, General, Macro Virus Protection is checked'
but apart from that I can find nothing to disable creating
new macros.
