Excel number formatting

Version: 2008 Operating System: Mac OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard) Processor: Intel I have a problem formatting some of cell in a sheet to currency of accounting. I've tried everything from copying and pasting the number formats from other cells,but without any success.

Sorry to hear that you have "a problem" but it would be a big help to also
know what that problem is -- How does it manifest itself? Without some
degree of descriptive detail we're even more in the dark than you :)

Are Office (12.2.3) & OS X (10.6.2) fully updated?

Have you re-launched Excel recently?

Is this happening in one specific part of a sheet? One specific sheet? One
specific file? Or does it happen in all files including new ones?

Are you sure the content of the cell is actually a Number rather than Text?

Reminds me of an old joke about a guy who called the car dealer & told him
he had a problem shifting gears. The dealer asked a bunch of technical &
mechanical troubleshooting questions & suggestions, none of which resolved
the problem so he transferred the call to a mechanic. Same result, so it
went to the head mechanic. Same result, so it went to the manufacturer who
finally asked "Exactly what is the problem?".

Reply: "I've broken my right arm."
