excel text formula does not calculate after editing

I have a simple formula =A16&","&TEXT(ROUND(e16,2),"0.00")
and it works very well and I've used that and variations extensively. If I
copy to another cell it works well. Now however when I try to type the
formula into a cell or edit it after I've copied it all I get is the formula
displayed - not the result.

It sounds like the cell is formatted as TEXT. Format the cell as General
then either type the formula or, if it's already in the cell, select the
cell and hit function key F2 then hit ENTER.

Biff - have worked with formulas similar to & much more elaborate than this
for a long while & never had this problem. That said, your suggestion works
- takes an extra step or 2 but it works. Thanks very much.

My guess is that the cell is formatted as Text. Format as General and
re-enter the formula.

Are you sure that you need the ROUND function? Wouldn't you get the same
result with =A16&","&TEXT(E16,"0.00") ?
