Exchange will not prompt for user name

Long story - I installed Office 2003 with Windows XP and
configured Outlook for IMAP mail and Exchange Server
(Calendar). IMAP was inconsistent with opening mail and
deleting messages. No one could help so I uninstalled
Office 2003 and installed Office XP. After reconfiguring
Outlook 2002 for IMAP mail and Exchange, IMAP is again
working fine, but I can no longer log on to the Exchange
server because it never prompts me for a user name or
password.

Apparently somthing is hovering in the registry from the
previous install, but what should I do? Any help would be
greatly appreciated!

Is your workstation a member of the domain, and are you logging onto the
domain with the correct credentials?
If not, set the Logon Network Security settings to None in the advanced
properties of the Exchange server service in Outlook, and you'll be
prompted.
