Exporting Notes field to Excel

S

Suzanne

Hi and Happy New Year.

When exporting from Project 2003 to Excel using the project export wizard
only an extract (first few lines) of the notes field is exported.

Is there a way to transfer complete notes as entered in project to excel or
is this a limitation of project / excel?

Thanks for your help.

Suzanne,
The export wizard will only export the first 255 characters or up to the
first line feed, whichever occurs first. In order to export the entire
notes field a macro is required. I have such a macro. If you are
interested, contact me at the address below. I will ask some questions.

Found this thread with the MP discussion group 'search' and wondered if you
might send me a copy of the macro that you mentioned.
Am not that experienced with Excel macros, but would like to try in order to
save MP notes to an Excel file.
Thank you for your help.

Ps: Tried emailiing (e-mail address removed) but it came back as not deliverable.

Never expose anyone's email address in newsgroups. The spammers run
electronic robots to scan through postings to pick them out and send spam.
I hope for John's sake that they miss this one.

Sorry about that, didnt know about the spammers thing.
Thanks for the info.
Hopefully it is a wrong address since it came back that way when I tried to
use it.

I've tried writing to John to get the macro and my e-mail wouldn't go
through. John, is there another address I can use?

Thanks,
Liz

Liz,
Yes, your e-mail doesn't go through because I switched e-mail providers
at the beginning of this year. Try the address below.

I can't seem to reach john at the email address below. Can someone send me
the macro or let me know where it might be posted somewhere?

Thanks,
Stephanie

stephanie,
The e-mail listed in the message to Liz is correct. Make sure you remove
obvious redundancies. Like many people I encode my address to thwart
spam. It is easy for a real live human to decode but not so easy for a
bot.

No one other than myself is authorized to distribute the macro and it
better not be posted anywhere. Doing so is a violation of the macro
license agreement.

If you still can't figure out my e-mail, post yours and I'll write to
you.

Users,
I stand corrected. The license agreement does allow re-distribution but
with certain restrictions.

I should read my own stuff :-(
