Exporting Personal Folder Data

Lori Manning

I'm on Outlook 2000, Windows 2000. I'm trying to export
my personal folders in Outlook to a floppy. I found
the info online on how to do it (listed below).
However, my version of Outlook doesn't have the option
to "Include Subfolders" in the export. How can I get
this feature, I need it desperately. Is there a setting I
need to change, or a upgrade download I need to
do...PLEASE HELP..thx.

Exporting Personal Folder Data
To export an individual Outlook folder such as Contacts or
Calendar, follow these steps:
On the File menu, click Import And Export.
Click Export To File, and then click Next.
In Create a file of type click Personal Folder File
(.pst), and then click Next.
In Select the folder to export from, click the folder you
want to export. Click to select INCLUDE SUBFOLDERS, and
then click Next.
In Save exported file as, click Browse to select the
location of the PST to receive the data you are exporting.
Or, type the path and file name, and then click Finish.

I'd be VERY surprised if your pst file will fit on a floppy!

Why not just copy the pst file in Windows Explorer?

if the subfolder option is not available and subfolders are not exported,
you can't change how it works unless you upgrade. But you can use file, new,
outlook data store to create a new *.pst and copy the folders you need to
the new pst.

I'm actually sending to flash drive, so that I
can transfer all the info from one computer to
another. I don't have the ability to select
"include sub folders", and need to know how
to get that fixed..thx much!

I just upgraded from OL98 to OL2000...The old version
had it, so I assumed the newer version would to.
When you mention upgrade, is that a download?

If not, I tried the other entry you gave me, and
it doesn't seem to work, if you can explain a little
bit more. Again, I'm trying to get my subfolders
downloaded to my flash drive.
