Exporting Project Reports

Stephen

I want to export/save my customised Project report so I can email it to my
project team (rather than print it off and distribute paper). My reading of
previous posts is that Project 2003 does not allow this. i.e. I can only
print off customised reports.

Is this correct?

Thanks
Stephen

Stephen,
Yes, that is correct. However, alternatives do exist. Go to our MVP
website at, http://www.mvps.org/project/faqs.htm, and take a look at FAQ
16 - Project viewers.

By the way, Project 2007 does not provide for sharing customized reports
with non-Project users but it does have added functionality for
exporting Project data to Excel.

Depending on the type of report you need, you might also be able to use
the utility "Analyze timescaled data in Excel" found on the Analysis
toolbar. And of course, any custom report can be generated using VBA.

If you have full version Acrobat or a pdf writer, you can pdf the report you
are seeing, then attach the pdf to an email to send around.

Alternatively you are meant to use the Export feature to export data to
another program, which can then be read by users who do not have Project
installed.

Thanks Duane

I find that the only way to see my customised report on screen is to hit the
print preview button. In print preview, I can't see any other
buttons/toolbars to issue other commands such as export etc.

Hello Stephen,

The link posted by John should be back up by now. The FAQ does list
some inexpensive and/or free programs which allow you to create PDF
files.

To answer your question to Duane, about printing to pdf software, once
the pdf software is installed a pdf printer driver is installed. From
Project you select the pdf printer driver in the File > Print dialog box
and it creates the pdf file.

I hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.
