Extracting Excel Workbooks from Word Document

S

Suzanne

I have a report into which I imported an Excel worksheet
as an object. Now I want to extract that Excel worksheet
as an Excel worksheet with all formatting, including
column width, intact. I've tried Copy/Paste, Copy/Paste
Special. I didn't see a means of exporting the Excel
worksheet, nor could I right-click on the tab to
Move/Copy - it does not allow that option.
When I Copy/Paste, the fonts and borders transfer
correctly, but the column width is off.
Any ideas?

Hi Suzanne,

If you open a new Workbook in Excel, and also open the embedded workbook in
Word you can cut/copy and paste the worksheet cells, including formats and
formulae, and paste them into the new workbook in Excel. If you use the cut
& paste method, don't save the word document when closing.

Cheers

Hi Suzanne,

You can save the workbook as a separate Excel file. In
order to do this, you have to force it to open in a
separate Excel window, so that the File/Save As command
will apply to Excel (instead of Word).

Rightclick the worksheet object (NOT activated for in-place
editing), then choose the "Worksheet object" entry, and
under that "Open".
