Features affected by working with a 2000 PowerPoint
presentation in an XP version.

I have created an powerpoint in office 2000 and have no
problem in editing it, the format are still the same but
when I try to use it at a office XP machine and edit it,
it always go out of format eg. left hand hierrachy will
go to right and right to left and so on and so forth.

Please help on this issue.

Thanks.
Sam.

Same or similar problem here.

I create slides using Powerpoint 2002 on XP Home. A colleague uses Powerpoint 2000 on Windows 2000. Most things convert fine, but some formatting changes occur when she views - text size increases on hers or margins change in box.

So now, we need to have 2 versions of the file when presenting to clients.

No, you should not need two different versions of the file if you are
willing to give up the newer features in PowerPoint 2002 (mainly fancier
possibilities with animation and multiple masters). Go to the Tools menu
and choose Options. In the Edit tab, look at the bottom where it says
"Disable New Features." Click all those boxes, and your presentations
should work fine in PowerPoint 2000 and 2002 (and 97 and 2003 and mostly
in fine in 98 and X and 2004 for the Mac).

slide.

Can I send the file to you for testing? Your email
address please.

It's always a problem describing these things in plain text.

Is it possible to post some screenshots on a website where we can see them and
also to try to describe this in lots of detail, step by step? I just can't
picture in my mind what you're seeing on screen.

It wouldn't be much use unless you can help me
understand what I'm looking for.
Are you certain it's not just missing fonts?

That is, the font the presentation needs isn't installed on the computer where
the formatting gets changed?

Open the presentation on the problem computer, choose Format, Replace Fonts.
In the upper list box, look for fonts with a ? next to their names.
If you find any, that's probably the cause of the problem.

The missing font as instructed by you have applied b4,
but still the same. if you allow me to send email to you
to explain clearly to you step by step will allow you to
understand better.

Hi Steve,

As explain b4, the slide was created by office 2000 and
has no issue by opening it by office xp but once you try
to double click into the slide to do modifications, the
slide (which is the hierrachy) will go out of order, eg.
the right hand will go to the left and left to right >>

Office 2000 has no issue on this >> I do not know that
will help you in understanding the explaination or not
but will appreciate if you can help.

TBW, the file size is only 64kbytes.

Thanks, Sam.

I still don't understand what's going on but if it's that small, send it along
to steve at-sign pptools dot com and I'll have a look.
