Figures suddenly numbering out of sequence

K

Kathryn Miller

I am using Word 2002 for a software manual. I've been
successfully using the Caption feature to number tables
and figures. I've used outline numbering in the doc, so
each figure and table includes chapter numbers, for
example, Figure 2-4.

All of a sudden, the figure number skips from Figure 6-4
to 6-6. Next I get Figure 6-8. Starting with Figure 6-9,
the sequence seems to be back on track.

There are no other graphics where the figure numbers are
skipped, nor any other odd formatting that I can see.

Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

Hi Kathryn

Are you using track changes? Or have you used track changes in this document at some stage in the past? In Word 2002, use the
Reviewing toolbar to see if there are tracked changes in your document. In earlier versions of Word, Tools > Track Changes and tick
the box to display tracked changes in your document.

Hope this helps.
