file number changes to ~1.MPP after routing

Hello,
I have a template using MS project 2000. We save the template for .i.e.
3999 ver 0.2 and route it to other team memebrs. Often after routing, the
file name changes to 3999~1.MPP so ver 0.2 chnages to ~1
Would you please advice
I wish I could send you electronic file which is a small file.

Hi Majid,

What operating system are you using and what is the operating system for the
email recipients? If I recall correctly, older operating systems (Windows
NT for example) would truncate long (above 8 character) file names and
replace characters with the tilde (~) and a number for compatibility with
even older operating systems.

If you email the file to yourself and then open the file, does the name come
through properly?

You're welcome Majid and thanks for the feedback. You can actually see this
happening even in later operating systems. If you open a project file and
then in File > Properties check the MS-DOS name on the General tab, you'll
see exactly what you describe.
