File size issue in Publisher 2000

George Thompson

Hi All,

We are working with a simple 40 page booklet that has a simple 40k JPG and a
paragraph of text on 36 of the pages.

The file size of the document is already over 21mb. I have looked at the
graphics to see if anything was too large and everything is fairly small (and
low res).

We are having problems working with the document and it seems to crash often
while saving.

Can anyone explain the size issue? Is there a way to get the size back down
to something manageable?

Thanks,
George

George, in addition to David's reply, Publisher 2002/2003 address the size
issue with an almost 90% size decrease in most cases.

Brian, As a follow up, I know that 2003 compresses the image files, and
trust that is true of 2002. However, as I was looking for the links I posted
from the knowledge base I came across what seems to say that 2002 has the
same problem as 2000 when it comes to saving image files in the design
gallery, in some cases, even after deleting them from the document. Has this
also been changed in 2003?
