files won't open

just installed office 2003 (over 2000) and none of the new programs will open
saved files. this includes templates and any files created by the new version.

i read about the Norton antivirus fix. I run PC-cillin 2002 antivirus and
dispite disabling it and exiting it the problem persists.
I tried reinstalling and it changed nothing.

Word and outlook also prompt to save normal.dot on every exit.

If you get an error message when you try to open a saved file,
please quote the error message exactly and completely.

word says "the file (filename) is not available"
excel says "the file cannot be opened because your virus scanner has
detected a problem with the file"
Powerpoint says "Powerpoint can't read (filename)"

if u read my original post carefully, it says i use PC-cillin.
i couldn't find an option in that for an office plugin but i did disable
it's auto-protect with no change.

Use Windows Explorer or My Computer to search your hard drive for
a Norton Antivirus file named OFFICEAV.DLL. Be sure to include
hidden and system files and folders in the search options. If
you find it, then note the folder where this Norton Antivirus
file is located, and use the "regsvr32 /u" method described in
KB329820 to unregister the Norton Antivirus DLL.

Hey I have the same problem, i can't open any files with my office program.
It keeps saying the file is unavailable, except i don't have any norton
programs on my computer, i've uninstalled them, and i did surch for the
OFFICEAV.DLL file (even in hidden files) and its wasn't on my computer. I do
however run AVG is that the reason why I can't open my office files??

This is at least a 3 month old post that you are hijacking. Wonderful world of the
Web interface

What version of Office do you have installed. Is it a Trial version. Is it an Office
2003 version. Is it a Office 2007 version. Retail or OEM and again I ask is it a
Trial version
