Filter issues with the Contact Selector look up box

Hi,

I have a Contact Selector control on my InfoPath form. In the AD I have
following 3 accounts created in my domain - mydomain\user1, mydomain\user2 &
mydomain\user3. The name of all the 3 users are "Test User". Using the
contact selector look up search box, when I try to search accounts with text
"user", I do not see any records in the search result list (where as all the
the above 3 accounts are expected in the search results). By typing the
account name (e.g. mydomain\user1) when I validate the account (by clicking
the Check Names button) the control successfully validates the account with
the AD.

I then created a DL "My Site Users" & added the above 3 accounts to it. The
DL was then added to the share point site with the appropriate permission.
Even then I was not able to get the above 3 accounts in the search results.

Only after explicitly adding the above accounts to the People List of my
site, I could see the above 3 accounts in the Contact Selector search box
result list.

I tried the above functionality with the Share point in built people picker
but surprisingly that too behaves the same way as does the InfoPath contact
selector control.

Is this is know issue with the people picker control (InfoPath & Share
point) or is there any way around to get rid of this issue?

Also where does the look up box filters the account data from? AD or People
List of the Share point site?

Regards,
