Filters Highlighting not Hiding

An MSP I've brrn given 'highlights' tasks when filters ( even auto-filters )
are applied rather than hiding the tasks - how do I change this ?

Even when I go to custom filters and use 'apply' rather than 'highlight' it
still does it - I've never come accross this before - any ideas how to change
this ?

Is it some setting within that particular MSP code ?

Within the view you want to work with:
View
More Views
Edit
Check "Highlight Filter"

I assumed that the clicking the Highlight Filter once would turn highlighting
on and clicking it afterwards would turn it off. But this doesn't seem to be
the case. Is there some other button to turn the highlights off and get back
to hiding those tasks which are filtered out?

Thanks. My actual problem was in setting up the view after I created the
filter. In View / more views / edit / there is a check box for highlight
filter. I had checked that.
