Final Showing markup frustration

Word XP on Windows XP

Have agonized over the Final showing Markup versus the Final setting in Word
since being upgraded to Word XP. Have read countless explanations of why it
is there. However those reasons don;t apply to me and most users in my
organization. We do NOT regularly use the track changes feature of Word.

I am occassionally caught printing a 8 10 or 20 copies of a document in the
reduced format because I "missed" the fact that the dialog box had "Final
showing MArkup" selected in the print what box.

I am hopeful that I have found a possible solution. For some reason my
normal template had Final showing markup as the default setting. I changed
this setting to FINAL saved as template. Then renamed to NORMAL.dot. I will
be experimenting with this for a few days to see if this prevents all new
documents being created in this final showing markup default mode.

I am sure it is a great feature for those who actually use the tracked
changes feature; for those of us who don't, it certainly wastes a lot of
paper.
