Finding Deleted Picture Files

How can I find deleted picture files which are not in the recycling bin?
While organizing my vacation pictures in Microsoft Office Picture Editor, I
selected all of Monday's pictures, right-clicked to rename them, and as I was
typing a new name my hand hit some random key on the keyboard and they all
disappeared!!!! (That's what I get for working on them on my laptop in the
car on a bumpy interstate!!!) They are not in the recycling bin. I have
done numerous advanced searches and have come up with nothing EXCEPT the
thumbnails of those deleted pictures -- which gives me hope. (I searched the
hard drive for files modified on the day deleted and on the day they were
originally imported; I searched hidden files; I searched for several possible
file names; etc.) Is there any way I can find completely deleted files???
