fonts missing after restart

I am one of the users on a home computer. There are children who use my user
id and so i am not designated as the administrator. I am working on a web
page in publisher 2003. I have downloaded some free fonts. I am able to
install the fonts by using the control panel>fonts>install new font> method.
However, when I shut down the computer and later restart, the fonts are
listed as "missing" from the fonts list in both publisher and word. They are
gone from the font folder but still remain as files on my computer. I can
reinstall but it makes no difference.
I have searched everywhere i can think of. If someone can help, I would be
grateful.

well,
that is a problem. My brother-in-law, who is the designated administrator
is gone right now. The publisher document I am working on is for
homeschooling my sister and his children.
Anyway, after many days of working on this problem, it occured to me that
this might be the problem. But i had no way of checking this.
I hope the solution is as simple as that. It seemed too simple a solution,
that i wanted to go ahead and seek some advice.
If that doesn't work, where should I go from there?

p.s. thanks for replying to my post. I have viewed many other discussions in
an attempt to find out if someone had already asked this question and
although i was unable to find anything that way, i have realized what a
valuable site this is.
thanks again,

Logging on as the administrator usually involves passwords... You could download a
font manager, then the font wouldn't need to be installed to be available. FontSmart
is okay, it is a HP product. There is a free download here:
http://home.swipnet.se/highsite/programs/prog.html
I have it on my computer, the program searches your hard drive for fonts, it will
create a short cut to the font and you can use it on the fly.

since my last post i decided to finish deleting all the fonts i had
downloaded. i had tried deleting some fonts and downloading them again but
it seemed to make no difference. There were a few that i did not want to
delete because i couldn't locate them on the site i thought i had gotten them
from. I deleted them one at a time trying the install process again with the
other fonts. I held on to one font until the last because i really wanted
it. Then i found a similar font on a different web site and decided to
delete the old one. Fireworks and a Hallelujah Chorus! Everything worked
like a dream.
I am looking into the FontSmart idea though.
Thanks for all your help.
