Need some help from the pros!

Checking MyComputer/Windows/Fonts I can find Times New Roman. If I open
Word Times New Roman is an optional font. But, if I open FrontPage Times New
Roman is not an optional font. If I recall, Times New Roman used to be one
of the Fonts available to FrontPage? I checked under Programs but I didn't
find a font folder.

I would like to have Times New Roman as an available font in FrontPage. How
do I accomplish this?

Your help and insight would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

T

Tom [Pepper] Willett

Where in FP are you looking? It's actually the default font.

Welllll, it's kinda like this! Under Format, Times New Roman appears! So, I
actually do have Times New Roman. But, under the drop down menu it doesn't
appear -- well, that's not really true. It's like this, Times New Roman has,
somehow, become renamed as Brush Script MT, a font that I attempted to add,
but somehow screwed-up?! Therefore, if I select Brush Script MT I actually
get Times New Roman! And, the Default font is Arial! How 'bout them apples?
Do you have a suggestion as how to go about correcting the mess I
"apparently" created?

You're absolutely correct, I certainly did not state the "problem/question,
and facts" correctly/properly! I'm truly sorry about that.

Obviously I goofed-up! I'm kinda an adventuresome sort-a-guy! I try a lot
of stuff... most of it works, thus I do a lot of "creative things!" And,
then, sometimes I get into "uncharted waters!" Like now!

Any thoughts or suggestions... other than I should do a much better job,
defining the problem/question, when I'm seeking help -- and watch my steps
when I venture into these uncharted waters?

Thanks again,

P

Patrick

Btw, I tried to change the Default Font but it wouldn't apply. Even though
Times New Roman appears under Format Font, "Times New Roman" appear as Brush
Script MT in the drop menu -- possilby that is why the attempt to
reset/change the Default Font back to Times New Roman didn't work?

I do try....

Hope you have some answers?

Thanks,

Tom:

I will do so...

I did check with Help, but I did not think about running Help/Detect and
Repair!

Btw, I don't have any difficulty publishing, just the "confused" drop menu
situation! And, I can select Times Roman under Format, thus I can change the
bogus defaulted text, but it, obviously, takes an addiional step each time,
thus a pain in the rear, but no panic!

Thanks, once again... I'll let yuh know what I find.

Close FrontPage.
Copy and past the following into Start > Run:
%UserProfile%\Local Settings\Application Data

In the folder that opens, delete the file named GDIPFONTCACHEV1.DAT

Reopen Frontage and it will be recreated with the correct font names, as this is the file FP uses to list
fonts.

Thanks... I did notice that the problem did not exist for all of my websites
I publish with FrontPage, thus I was concerned about making any wholesale
changes. Therefore, I appreciate your suggestion.

Steve:

One quick question. Due to the fact that the condition varies from one page
to another within this website (I have several other websites I publish with
FrontPage), in other words, one page may have the correct fonts in the drop
down menu, while another may not, could your solution cause any problems for
the other pages, or for that matter, for the other websites I publish using
FrontPage. I'm assuming that when you refer to Folder that would involve the
this specific website -- in other words, all of the pages?

Forgive me if I appear cautious, I've had some mighty "interesting"
problems, over the years, with FrontPage. I do a lot of "creative" things.
I've even created a website with password protection imbedded within... etc.!
Fun when it works...

Btw, I started in the "computer" field in the '50s, with the 80 column card,
and Unit Record equipment -- operator, to programmer, to setting up networks
and data centers, etc. I'm now 72 and still "alert," but no longer the
programmer I was 50 years ago! But, I still create and maintain all of our
sites -- even with animation, audio, etc.! Like I said, fun when it works!

And, I still need help -- thanks for your patience and understanding.

Closing FrontPage and deleting that file will have no effect on your webs.
When you launch FrontPage that file is rebuilt before you ever have the opportunity to even open a web site.
