Footers in templates

Adriana

I have automatic footers in my templates with no
refinements but when I produce a document based on a
template the footer comes out bolded? We use PC DOCS as
our document management system. Any ideas?

Thank you

Hi Adriana

As well as checking the formatting in the template, check whether your
footer has a "MERGEFORMAT" flag in the field code (right click and toggle
field codes to see the code) - if it has remove it. What sometimes happens
is that Word generates an error message for a field, and the bold used for
the error message then 'sticks' to the actual field result later.

I've seen this as a particular problem when swapping between language
versions, where a STYLEREF field to a built-in heading generated an error in
the 'wrong' language. When returned to the original, all was fine apart from
the spurious bolding.
