Form field that will display number corresponding to another field

I have a form with a drop down list box, Field A. I would like to have
another field, Field B that will display a number when one of the items in
Field A is selected. The numbers will be assigned to the items in the list
box from Field A accordingly. How can I do this? Thanks for the help!
