I used to be able to center a document hit enter and it take you to the next
line and it would be centered, and then all you had to do from there was hit
back space, this is no longer the case.. any suggestions??

And what did pressing Backspace then do?

You can certainly center a paragraph and, as long as you continue to press
Enter, the new paragraph will also be centered. (Caveat: if you're working with
a style, and the "Next paragraph style" property of that style is set to a
different style, that is not centered.)

Note that this is a newsgroup for VBA - programming - questions. If your
question is completely about Word's behavior, it would be better for you to
post in the Formatting.Longdocs or another end-user group. And do mention the
version of Word when looking for assistance.
