Formatting Palette

Despite selecting the "quick styles" box to be displayed in the formatting palette, it does not appear. In fact, with all the available options selected the only ones that are accessible are "font", "number", "alignment and spacing", "borders and shading", "page setup" and "themes". Does anyone have the same problem or am I missing something in my setup.

As an update to my question, is there a similar feature to the "built in cell styles" feature found in the windows version? I thought the quick styles would provide that but it doesn't appear to activate for text or numerical entries.

You're not missing anything - the panes of the Formatting palette are
contextual - they only show up when they can be applied.

Quick styles and effects are only applicable to pictures, shapes,
charts, and text boxes in SmartArt graphics, so the pane only shows up
when one of those objects is selected.

Applying Office styles to cell contents is under consideration for a future
release of Excel.
