FP 2003 and XML

Is there no way to make use of an XML document with FP without SharePoint?

I have an XML document that is created off line and I would like to FTP it
to a non-SharePoint server and display it?

Thanks...

1. What do you mean by make use of the XML document?

2. What is stopping you from FTPing the XML document to a server that is set up to allow FTP access?

I would like to display the XML formatted for the page. Something like a
static XSLT processor for the page.

Set FP to open the XML page in Notepad (Text Editor)

You can also configure FP to open the XML file.

I guess I'm not making myself clear.
I have a XML file that is generated off line. It is about 2k of data. I
would like to FTP it to my web server and then extract some of the XML
values and display them for the viewer. Simply showing the XML would be
ugly.

Hi James,

You can write an xslt stylsheet to transform your xml to html however you
like. This tutorial should get you started
http://www.w3schools.com/xsl/default.asp

Once you've created your stylsheet you can link it to the xml doc like this
<?xml-stylesheet type="text/xsl" href="YourStylesheet.xsl"?>

The above is supported by all modern browsers except IE5. Another option is
to generate your html on the server with asp/asp.net etc which would
overcome any browser issues

Cheers,
Jon

Thanks Jon - The trouble is that my XML file is created a every 10 seconds
on a different machine and I have to get it to my web page without any
intervention on my part.
I hate to have to learn .ASP for this simple task so I'm going to think
about it for a bit.

What type of PC is it? Are the two connected on a network? If so you could
try Windows Scheduler to transfer the file for you every x seconds or you'd
have to right some VB code to do it for you. Do a search on the internet
for task schedulers to see what might be out there.

Jon can you tell me what the best features of fp 2003 are? I'm a newbie and
am told that you can help. Thanks. G

Thanks for all you input on my display problem. I finally solved it by
converting the data from the XML file to a bitmap and then FTPing the bit
map to the web server for display.
If your interested you can see it as 'Status' on my web site www.seti.net
Regards........ Jim
