FP expires; Need upgrade or full version

Forgive this newbie if discussed recently or elsewhere...

I bought a Compaq laptop that had FP bundled. It expires
next month.

Do I have to buy the full version or can I get by with
the upgrade?

I would contact Compag to see if the trial version can be licenses as a full
version or check the documentation that came with the software/computer,
otherwise you need to purchase the full version, as you can not upgrade a
current version with a current version.
