FP2000 publishing problem

Using Windows XP, I am having trouble publishing my new
and edited web pages to my own computer. I was successful
publishing to my website using FTP. The error
message: "An error occurred accessing your web files."

Any help here would be appreciated!

What version of Win XP?

Do you have the IIS web server and extensions installed?

If so, why are you going through all the extra steps of publishing a disk
based web to your local server, instead of creating the web on the local
server and extensions to begin with?

Tom--You're WAY ahead of me. I'm not sure I understand
your suggestion. But, first , answer your question, I
have XP 5.1 with Service Pack 1. Upon reading your
suggestion, I downloaded IIS (I had never heard of it
before). But now, you lose me. I've created the web on my
PC and successfully published it. But am at a loss how to
make a back-up copy should my computer die on me. Even
tonight I was unable to publish to either a CD or another
folder on my PC, getting the "Unable to access your
files" error message. I'm really sorry I'm grossly
undereducated in this area. I'm a writer, not a computer
whiz. I do appreciate your help.
