The only other idea I have is that the downloaded file is corrupt, and
maybe downloading it again will help.

It does sound like the downloaded file is corrupt as this is not expected
behavior. Are you on a broadband connection? Only broadband connections are
recommended for downloading the 225+ MB file. After the OfficeSTD.exe file
has downloaded successfully, you can check it to make sure it is the proper
size. Right-click on the file and select Properties. The size should be:
216 MB (227,190,984 bytes). To install the trial, you can then double-click
on it and expected behavior should be:

1. Some CAB files will be extracted
2. The Windows Installer will launch
3. The Microsoft Office 2003 Setup window will appear
4. You will be prompted to enter your 25 digit activation code you received
upon registration for the trial
5. You will be asked to supply a user name if you wish
6. You will be asked to accept the end user license agreement (EULA)
7. You will get to a screen that asks you what type of installation you
want to select (Typical Install is the default)
8. You click "Install" to start the installation
9. After several minutes, it should complete and you click "Finish" to
compete the installation.
10. After installation, the user will be asked to Activate the trial over
the internet in order to start using it.
11. Registration is optional.

Thanks, I did check the file size after I deleted it and redownloaded it. It
was the size you put down. Then I clicked to run it and all of the files were
extracted, then it started installing and then the box popped up that said
"fatal error during installation". I dont even get to the setup window.
