...from here to next tab ?? Help

I

InOverMyHead

I want to record a macro that selects (for later deletion) all characters
between "here" and next tab (or next comma or whatever). How do I record
such a macro? Seems kinda basic, till I realize Word has no "select" key
like WP did.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You don't need a macro, as that function is already provided.

Press F8, or double-click the letters EXT on the status bar so they
turn from gray to black; then press the character you want to extend
to. Then press the Esc key to turn off the Extend mode and hit Delete
or whatever you want to do with the selected text.

You may want a macro if your intention is to select up to _but not
including_ the character. In that case, record the following actions:

press F8
press tab
press left arrow

If you want something more flexible, where it asks you for the
character and then selects up to but not including it, post back. You
can't record that, but it can be programmed in VBA.

Well glory be! And I thot I'd lost the "Select" key! I do need to use it in
a macro, but this makes it a snap!

Thanks loads.
