frustrating Word doc errors MS Office XP professional

Every time I open an office doc I will , in a few minutes, receive the error
message "microsoft office has encountered a probled and needs to close".
This happens almost immediately when I try to paste in an image from the
file or the clipboard. The problem started intermittantly and is now
constant. I tried to reference the message using the event viewer but when
checking with microsoft.com the site has no information on the error. Also,
all updates are applied. Need to get this fixed, a lot of work due for
monday

Does the error happen after just opening it or after you try to insert the
picture? Is it happening with every Word file or just that one?

Still no luck on this end. Tried a system restore out of desperation which I
had to undo as I could no longer open word docs at all. Situation still the
same. I have done some searching in the mean time and found an a couple of
articles at
http://wordprocessing.about.com/od/troubleshootin1/qt/wordregentry.htm
talking about problems wit the normal.dot file or the registry entry. I am
not keen on messing with the registry at this point. Any help you can offer
will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Rick

Thanks, another MVP recommended clearing my internet temp files and it
worked like a charm. I didn't realise it could effect word like that.
