Is it possible to do a full text search in the documents stored in
Groove?

Thanks.

You should also know that we are planning on delivering integration with
Windows Desktop Search in the next release of Groove.

Thanks for your interest,
Donna

Thanks for the info.

In my company we have strong requirements on security. Will it be
possible to be sure that Windows Desktop Search does not store or
disclose my documents in a clear way outside of Groove (I am thinking
about cached copies)?

Nicolas.

What you need to know about WDS is that it does not support encrypting
search indexes. The performance would be pretty much intolerable.
Additionally, while the index may present less of an issue for some, search
results presented include the actual data, not a reference to the data. I
think the reason is the same - performance. Users and admins who have
concerns about security will have the option to enable or disable search
depending on their organization's security needs.

Clarification on the below statement. It was brought to my attention that
WDS does support encryption of the search index via use of EFS (Encrypted
File System) and in this scenario, the performance would not be considered
intolerable.

Groove uses its own on-disk data encryption and we are not planning on
changing that in favor of EFS.

Unfortunately, Don, it will only work with the version of Groove in which we
are developing WDS integration, which means it will not work with Groove
2007 or 3.1 workspaces.

You do know that the individual tools support "find" capabilities, right?
It's basic, but it works!
