Function keys don't work

I know this isn't an Office question, but maybe someone has a quick answer.

Normally F1 brings up the help function for me in Word and Excel. Currently
it does nothing, then I noticed that none of the F keys do anything (though
everything else on the keyboard works fine). I'm sure this is just a setting
I mistakenly switched off - can someone help me switch it back on?

Do the function keys work in other applications? For example, does F11
cause IE to go to full screen? Does F3 bring up the search pane? If not,
your keybaord may be defective.

Gary - I am not the originally poster but found this while searching for the
same answer. Have brand new keyboard from Dell and F3 and F11 work
everywhere except MSWord. Any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated.

Just a stupid answer maybe. Is your F Lock key engaged ( set to be on lock )

Thanks for responding but I was able to find the answer further down in
another thread.
If anyone else has this issue, the answer is: In Word, go to Tools,
Options, General, and uncheck the 2 boxes for WordPerfect help and navigation.
