First, we are not talking here about ADP but about DAP; second, I will never
believe that either Microsoft or Starbucks are using DAP on the Internet.
As for the Internet, I would be very, very surprised if Microsoft did gave
you 6 contracts about DAP and if you're talking about something else than
DAP then I'm asking again what anything of this as to do with the question
of the OP.

Your original post was:

needs. You'll find newsgroups in the microsoft.public hierarchy devoted to
each of these technologies.

And, there is a whole universe of website creation tools and software from
other sources.

Well, you have already said yourself that DAPs were now deprecated and to
that, I've added that most likely, your users will be blocked on the
internet by either a firewall on your side (I don't know the current
situation of your website/sql-server) or by a firewall on their side;
rendering them totally useless for a sizable fraction of your users.

What else do you need to take the decision not to go with DAPs?

DAPs work great.. I usually make a static DAP and then have an ASP
'wrapper' around it so that I can set properties using javascript /
vbScript.

and I usually use vbScript-- gods language-- in the browser.

you're probably best off.. by buying a copy of dreamweaver, and try to
use a real web-development tool
cuz MS doesn't know how to develop a good UI to save their lives ;)

is silly.

claiming that 'any open port to sql server is a security hole' means
that you know nothing about sql server, security or the internet.

DAP would and could work great for particular administrative purposes.

I can lock a SQL Server connection to a particular IP address, for
example.. and it's not a security hole in any manner
it's called 'pfSense'
